This is Maggie Mae my 7 year old Great Pyrenees. She is the love of my life. When the vet told me that I had to either have the TPLO surgery or put her down it actually broke my heart. I just couldn't put my dear sweet Maggie Mae down. A tplo surgery is a reconstructive surgery for ACLs for dogs. They saw down the bone and put in screws and plates to put it all back together again. At first Maggie Mae was doing really really good. Her first week she was out walking she was just rocking the whole recovery. Unfortunately, on Thanksgiving Day she slipped and fell. Right now she is not putting any weight on that leg and every time she puts it down she cries out in pain. We couldn't get her into the vet over the holiday but we'll take her first thing tomorrow morning back to the vet to see what the problem is. I'm terrified that it will mean more surgery or a bigger problem.
I'm hopeful that it could be just a small problem that they can fix in the office or maybe just a readjustment. I'll keep you posted and let you know of her progress.
